There were a few small jobs to do before scuffing, cleaning and priming that needed to be done. A few dimples, final drilling the top and middle rudder hinge brackets with #12 drill, a few dimples.
I also took the time to remove a couple of scratches that were a result of initially clecoing the nose ribs VS-1013 and 1005 in place. After communicating with Vans support I bent the nose flanges so they wouldn’t place any stress on the skins.
So basically I am step 3 of page 6-4:
Step 3: Separate the R-1007 Rudder Stop parts, shown in Figure 2, into individual components; the R-1007A Striker Plates and the
R-1007B Rudder Stops. File off any remaining stubs and deburr the edges. The striker plates will be used in the rudder assembly
and can be set aside for now
